A practical journey to explore

A CLOSER LOOK

Know which title you own—and which copy is on loan.

A title and a physical copy answer different questions. VidyOmni keeps bibliographic details separate from accession numbers, barcodes, branch locations and circulation status so library staff can follow each item through daily use.

A searchable catalogue

Record titles, authors, ISBN, publisher, material type and classification. Search the catalogue by title or ISBN.

Individual copy records

Maintain accession numbers, barcodes, branch and shelf details for each copy. Review availability, condition and recorded value.

Daily circulation

Issue an available copy to a registered institutional person, set the due date and record returns or permitted renewals.

An operational stock view

Review on-loan and overdue records, and summarize copies by branch and status. Recorded return conditions help distinguish available, damaged and lost items.

HOW IT WORKS

From catalogue entry to a completed loan.

Keep the title, physical copy and borrower linked throughout circulation.

IN PRACTICE · 01

Practical detail for the circulation desk.

Clear records make daily queries easier to answer.

Where is the copy?

Use the recorded branch, shelf and status to understand its expected location. A loan links the copy to the borrower and due date.

Can it be issued?

The supported issue workflow checks that the copy is available and the member exists within the institution. Reference-only and other unavailable statuses prevent ordinary issue.

What came back?

Record good, worn, damaged or lost condition during return. Review the resulting copy status and recorded overdue calculation.

COMMON QUESTIONS

A few details
worth getting right.

Questions about your institution’s exact setup? Prepare a focused request.

Find the right contact route
Can we track several copies of the same title?

Yes. Each title can have separate copies with their own accession number, barcode, location, status and condition. Circulation operates on the individual copy.

Does the overdue amount automatically collect a fine?

No. The return workflow can calculate and record an overdue amount using the supplied daily rate. A complete fine collection, waiver and finance-reconciliation workflow is not claimed.

Are acquisitions, reservations and subscriptions included?

The described library scope is catalogue, copy records, circulation and a basic stock summary. A full library acquisition chain, reservations, subscriptions and physical stock-session reconciliation need separate scope review.
